How to use this calculator

Choose whether your percentage is a margin or a markup. Enter a positive cost and a percentage. Margin must be below 100%; markup may exceed 100%.

Formula and example

Margin = profit ÷ selling price × 100. Markup = profit ÷ cost × 100. A cost of 90 and a 25% margin gives a price of 120, profit of 30 and markup of 33.3333%.

Choose the right cost

Include costs attributable to the item. The result is a gross calculation before any omitted overhead, taxes or percentage-based platform fees.
